A resource from the Audubon Council of NY/CT with information for and about our Regions’ Chapters.

Thank you to all who helped to present our programs this fall for our Virtual Meeting and thank you also to everyone who attended. We had some really helpful discussions online – with great Chapter-to-Chapter sharing and support.

Below are recordings from each of our sessions, along with links to any additional resources provided. Please feel free to direct other leaders from your chapter to view at their convenience.

If you have not yet done so for your chapter, please submit your report for window collision and lights out work HERE. This is needed for our council grant that helped to supply resources and materials to support our work.

Don’t miss upcoming Birds of a Feather meetings and topics (on Zoom) – Full Schedule for Birds of a Feather is Here – our last one for 2025 will be to talk about the new Roster data and how to make the best use of the additional contacts that are provided for interested people in your chapter regions. Links and reminders will be sent on the Chapter Leader Listserves – please email Laura McCarthy at laura.mccarthy@audubon.org to make sure you and others on your board are on that list.

Also, in January & February, we will be hosting a few special ‘skill building’ workshops for those in your chapter who may need support, including: Creating graphics for your chapter using Canva; Using Buffer and other similar tools to help plan your social media content; Integrating donations and email list signups into your Chapters website and forms. Pre-registration is required for these – information and links for Skill Building Workshops (on Zoom) are available Here.

Lastly, please hold the dates and plan on attending the Spring Council Meeting, Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26 at The Heritage Inn, Southbury, CT (close to the Bent of the River Audubon Center). This will be a special weekend with overlap of the meeting of the NY/CT Regional Advisory Board. We expect to continue our conversations on hemispheric work, collisions and lights out campaigns and more. We hope you and others from your board will be able to join us.

Warmly,

Susan O’Handley, Board Chair

Bird Migration Explorer - An Overview with Chad Witco

Chad Witko (Specialist, Avian Biology, Audubon’s Migratory Bird Initiative) presents about what’s new with the Bird Migration Explorer—an award-winning, data-driven platform that visualizes migratory connections across the hemisphere, the heroic annual journeys made by over 450 bird species, and the challenges they face along the way. This session highlights recently added features and how the Bird Migration Explorer is being used to advance conservation, engagement, and storytelling. Whether you’re already familiar with the tool or just getting started, you’ll leave with fresh ideas and inspiration for incorporating the Explorer into your work.
